Wellman Robey gets Euro fighter production back on track 07 July 2010

BAE Systems Warton plant reports exceptional service from Wellman Robey Boiler Hire Division last month, when a complete boiler house failure threatened scheduled production of Euro fighter assemblies.

Its boiler house provides HPHW (high pressure hot water) for the pressurised hot air units involved in final surface finishing.

On the morning of Thursday 3 June, Wellman Robey received an urgent call from BAE. At 14:00hrs on the same day the firm's hire manager attended a site meeting to assess requirements and immediately made arrangements to rectify the problem.

Although this was not a standard request, Wellman Robey was able to provide a trailer-mounted 1.9kW HPHW boiler complete with separate pressurisation unit, 21,000 litre bunded oil tank plus a 100 volt generator.

With all the equipment on site and with Wellman Robey's engineers working around the clock, the plant was operational by late evening, Monday 7 June, ready for planned production the following day.

Separately, Wellman Robey makes the point that it has expanded its operations into high pressure steam (water tube), CHP, waste heat/gas recovery and energy from waste industries under Wellman Wulff (comprising Wellman Robey (UK) and Wulff Energy Technologies (Germany).

Equipment can cater for feedstock fuel type ranging from various gases to solid/biomass fuel types.
