ASME boiler and pressure vessel codes updated 05 March 2014

The ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) boiler and pressure vessel codes (BPVC) have been updated and are now available from BSI.

ASME BPVC is now adopted by all 50 states of the United States and all of Canada, and has been published all around the world.

BSI says that more than 92,000 copies of the BPVC are in use in 100 countries globally, with multiple translations.

For the BPVC update, BSI explains that the ASME committee of technical experts considered technological advances, including materials, construction, methods of fabrication, inspection, certification, and overpressure protection.

The 2013 Edition of the codes also includes a 'No Addenda' service, meaning that all changes are incorporated into the appropriate page and each affected area is identified with a designator corresponding to the new Edition.

Each Section of the 2013 Edition also includes a summary of changes that lists the material affected by the change, plus the nature of the change.

Finally, with the release of the 2013 ASME BPVC, the code will be moving from a three-year to a two-year cycle, at the request of industry.
