AutoDrain wins Network Rail workshop oil contract27 November 2018

Oilaway systems (centre right) at a Network Rail depot

Network Rail has ordered seven installations of Oilaway, a sealed workshop oil maintenance system, for seven workshop sites across its network.

The units, from UK supplier AutoDrain, due to be delivered within the next six months. They drain and replace waste oils from driveline and suspension components such as engines, gearboxes, axles and hydraulic circuits. Special hose mountings attach directly to the component and dedicated pipework to sealed tanks. This design helps prevent contaminants such as grit and moisture from entering the circuit.

Oilaway also enables engineers to take sealed oil samples at running temperatures.

The order is part of a shift toward in the workshops towards condition-based maintenance.
