Weg gets ISO 50.001 for electric motor manufacture01 March 2012
One of Weg's electric motor factories which manufactures large electric motors has been awarded the voluntary ISO 50.001:2011 for its energy management system, following an audit by the Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC).
The plant – Weg Equipamentos Elétricos in Brazil – is believed to be the first in the electronics sector in that country to receive certification to thix relatively new energy efficiency standard.
Weg says its energy management system was installed as a pilot project in one of its electric motor factories in Jaraguá do Sul. The implementation was part of an overall initiative to improve energy performance of the plant that also involved setting targets for reducing consumption.
The conformance certificate covers the manufacture of Weg's HGF line of electric motors, 315-400 (220V up to 13,800V) and W22-355 (220V to 1,000v), with power ratings from 175 up to 1,100hp.
Also covered is testing of three phase electric motors, with voltage ranging from 220—7,000V, and power ratings from 150—1,250 hp.
