The mill-wide production planning application and change management services will also help optimise the production across the fibre line, recovery line and pulp dryer.
Valmet Mill-Wide Optimisation observes the entire mill production and inventory balance in real-time and considers both the current and future states of the mill. As a result, suboptimisation of individual processes that do not align with mill goals can be avoided. The optimisation also provides the ability to balance environmental sustainability with production, quality, and cost.
Valmet Mill-Wide Optimisation Audit is expected to help reveal the true production potential and the return on investment. Based on historical data, the audit helps to evaluate production increase potential, identify limitations, and highlight use cases of Mill-Wide Optimisation.
Part of the solution is a two-year performance agreement for remote support via the Valmet Performance Centre.
Christian Sörgel, managing director at Mercer Rosenthal, said: “With Valmet Mill-Wide Optimisation, our goal is to produce pulp and energy more efficiently by further equalising and optimising the plant operation.”
Markus Foigtmannsberger, service manager, automation systems business line at Valmet, said: “We have a positive, long-term relationship with Mercer and I’m sure the Mill-Wide Optimisation will support both their operators’ work and production targets. Additionally, their current automation system, analysers and measurements provide a solid foundation for this kind of optimisation.”
Greg Fralic, product manager, automation systems business line at Valmet, said: “A mill audit and a detailed re-optimise the past analysis was performed before the investment decision to minimise risks and evaluate the benefits. The analysis demonstrated how the production planning solution can be utilised to help balance the mill and achieve the desired pulp production.”
