Vadxx Energy turns to Rockwell for process control 24 January 2014

A commercial-scale, plastic waste-to-synthetic crude energy plant, in Akron, Ohio, that will convert recyclable and non-recyclable plastic into higher-value energy products, is to get process controls from Rockwell Automation.

Rockwell has won the $15 million engineering, procurement, construction and management contract for the new plant, which is designed to transform nearly 60 tons of waste daily, diverting it from landfill.

The control system will include Rockwell's PlantPAx process automation system suite, with its multi-discipline control platform delivering an integrated smart plant for Vadxx.

"Vadxx is focused on successfully establishing our first commercial unit as the important first step toward global expansion," comments Jim Garrett, Vadxx Energy CEO.

"Liberation Capital [the private equity firm], Rockwell Automation, feedstock suppliers and other partners will play key roles in our growth and success," he continues.

"Rockwell Automation strengthens our technology by providing complete design, build and commissioning of our new plant," adds Jeremy DeBenedictis, vice president operations, Vadxx Energy.

"We'll have a process technology solution that will enable us to rapidly deploy our technology globally."
