Sulzer has inaugurated an automated and digitised pump production line that is said to cut throughput time by 93% at its Karhula factory in Finland.

The Kotka pump factory provides configured process pumps, agitators and turbocompressors. The facility also comprises test beds and research facilities. The factory serves process industry customers in markets such as pulp, paper and board, new wood-based processes, biofuels, sugar and starch, metals and mining, fertilizers, chemical processing, and water treatment.

A new logistics centre will offer materials and component handling, streamlining material operations. The increased output from the Karhula pump factory is expected to strengthen Sulzer’s entire global supply chain.
