Straightpoint opens offshore load monitoring division 24 August 2011
Straightpoint Offshore Load Monitoring, a division of Hampshire-based load systems exporter Straightpoint (UK), has opened its doors in Aberdeen.
The new firm intends to serve the oil and gas industries in North East Scotland as well as UK load testing companies, rigging companies and oil centres globally.
Straightpoint Offshore director Jim Murray says the company will provide wireless and cabled loadcells as well as calibration services to docks and offshore organisations that need to check cranes for accuracy and safety.
He also says that it intends not only to support the Straightpoint loadcell range, but also to provide a traceable repair and calibration centre for all load measuring products used offshore.
"Even though we've only just launched the offshore division, we've already secured our first order, worth £40,000, with a company in Singapore, and we are currently negotiating for two substantial local contracts for which the Straightpoint Radiolink Plus product is ideally suited," states Murray.
Straightpoint Offshore Load Monitoring is based in Aberdeen's Souterhead Industrial Estate.
