Shell selects ABB for LV switchgear and MCCs 11 July 2014

Shell has signed a five-year deal with ABB, which becomes its global single-source supplier of low-voltage switchgear, motor control centres and related services.

"This global agreement demonstrates that ABB's commitment to provide premium low-voltage solutions and services creates value for a global company like Shell, focused on safety, reliability and energy efficiency," says Tarak Mehta, head of ABB's low voltage products division.

"Over 40 years of experience have gone into ABB switchgear designs. We have installed millions of units globally for our customers, in some of the world's most harsh environments. The reliability of our products, together with our focus on supporting our customers' service needs, were fundamental aspects in securing this important contract."

The five-year agreement includes an option for an additional five-year extension, and covers the sales, support and service of low-voltage switchgear and MCCs across both IEC and NEMA standard geographies for green-field and brown-field sites.
