Speaking at the First Friday Club Editors' Briefing in London, Schneider's head of robotics Rob Haynes says the Lexium Cobots do not require the safety protection systems necessary for traditional robots.
“Nowadays businesses are faced with the problems of consistently increasing labour costs, shortening production market life cycles, as well as machine footprints have always been a premium. Lexium Cobots have all the advantages of advanced robotic technologies,” he says.
The Cobots come with a payload range of 3-18 kg and can be added to a machine or production line. Additionally, integration with Schneider's PacDrive controller enables control of entire machines, which could include a number of Cobots, Delta Pickers and MC12 Multi Carriers.
When asked about the impact of Covid-19 on the willingness of industry players to invest in automation, Schneider's vice president industrial automation Mark Yeeles stated the demand for its own Delta Pickers “went up significantly”.
“The other thing to say is that I think end users are starting to wake up to the technology that could solve some of their issues,” Yeeles added.
