The motor uses permanent magnets, is brushless and sealed, and can use air or liquid cooling.
The company argues that this technology is lightweight, offers efficient performance at low and high voltages, and operates at low RPM, offering the potential for direct drive.
The APC research contract will enable Saietta to ramp up production capacity to 150,000 motors per annum and trigger the hiring of 150-250 highly skilled engineers in the first round of recruitment.
Saietta will work closely with UK-based specialists Brandauer and AEV on refining the process for core motor component manufacturing and motor assembly to create an automated production process. Brandauer is a leader in precision stamping and progression tooling while AEV is an expert in the manufacture of electrically insulating resins, and the partnership will work closely together to deliver a highly cost effective production process in high volume manufacture.
