Drives scrappage scheme is popular with export markets 09 April 2010

In its first three months, IMO Precision Controls' Drives Scrappage Scheme has generated nearly 100 new enquiries from the USA and Canada, as well as the Philippines, India and China.

Robert Robbins, drives sales manager at IMO, says that the company's discount offer – where existing drives are part exchanged for new, high performance, variable speed drive from its Jaguar range – is going down well abroad and attracting exports.

So far, the company reports interest in its whole range, from the micro inverter CUB, through to the more powerful VXR and VXG drives – and from a variety of applications from small to medium conveyors to large cranes and hoists.

"We are making the latest technology even more affordable, and customers appreciate the value this will add to their current operations. With the added advantage of IMO's five-year warranty, it's a win-win situation," comments Robbins.

He also states that users are predicting energy saving paybacks within 12-18 months.

All 'scrapped' drives will be disposed of responsibly, he adds, and in accordance with the DEFRA publication 'Best Available Treatment Recovery and Recycling Techniques' (BATRRT) and WEEE (Treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
