Sulzer says that this deal has the potential to transform the industrial air compression market that it did in the low-pressure blower market for 20 years, when it launched the HST turbo compressor for low-pressure compression, for example in wastewater treatment applications.
Tamturbo of Finland develops and manufactures turbo compressors to supply 3-10 bar of oil-free compressed air for industrial applications.
The core of the cooperation agreement is the high-speed technology with active magnetic bearings. The application of variable frequency electrical supply and advanced control technologies also plays an important role in the products. The flow mechanics are optimized by advanced calculation to make sure no energy is wasted. Sulzer’s line of HSR high-speed turbo compressors, launched in December 2018, pictured, builds on this offering.
Sulzer said that its brings product development, application expertise and marketing and sales channels, while Tamturbo offers agile development and validation abilities.
