The NORDAC ON was designed for applications with asynchronous motors, while the NORDAC ON+ is intended for synchronous motors.
Both versions are available in three sizes for power ranges up to 2.2 kW. They also offer an integrated Ethernet interface, which enables the setting of the desired communication protocol, be it ProfiNET, EtherNET IP or EtherCAT.
According to Nord, this makes the NORDAC ON suited for integration into modern Industrial Internet of Things environments.
Additionally, the equipment comprises a diagnostic interface, four digital inputs and, with the NORDAC ON+, an additional protocol-based encoder interface that is claimed to offer protection against interference.
The compact decentralised inverters are said to be suited for integration into conveyor systems and thereby save space as well the motor cable wiring required for centralised frequency inverters. With all its pluggable connections, NORDAC ON presents a solution for post & parcel and warehouse applications.
NORDAC ON is equipped with a programmable logic controller for functions close to the drive. It can process data from connected sensors and actuators, autonomously initiate control sequences and communicate drive and application data to the control centre, networked components or to cloud storage. This is expected to allow a continuous conditioning monitoring (condition monitoring), creating the basis for predictive maintenance concepts (predictive maintenance) as well as plant dimensioning.
Functional safety functions like safe torque off and internal braking resistors for dynamic start/stop processes are 1/3 optionally available for all NORDAC ON models. Where the inverter cannot be mounted on the motor, either by choice or space restriction, it may be wall mounted close to the drive.
With its temperature range of tolerance of between -30° to +40°C the NORDAC ON can also be applied to deep-freeze applications with the optional corrosion-resistant nsd tupH surface treatment for use in the food industry.
