Mattei makes move into gas compressor market13 January 2015
Rotary vane air compressor specialist Mattei has launched a range of gas compressors for the UK market, aimed at applications ranging from pumping gas and landfill gas compression to micro power generation.
The firm has essentially modified the air end of its compression technology to create what it describes as an innovative gas compressor for gases, including natural gas (methane) and bio gas.
Each features a sealed intake, designed to accept gas from a pipeline, while stainless steel components have replaced copper and brass to prevent corrosion caused by pumped gases.
In addition, external pressure adjustment has been added to allow pressure selection without disconnecting pipework, while specialist lubricant is used to withstand a range of gas chemical compositions.
Additional probes have also been included to monitor the temperature of the end cover bushes and the compressed gas, while a vacuum sensor in the intake stops the compressor should there be a restriction.
Andy Jones, managing director for Mattei, says the new gas compressor range starts at 4kW, with units handling up to 55kW, and pressures from 6—13 bar. They fit IEC or Nema flange XN and spark free electric motors, hydraulic motors or PTO drive systems.
"There are significant opportunities for us to grow our market share in these niche sectors," comments Jones.
"Using our tried and tested compressor technology as a base, and incorporating our OEM expertise, we have the range and technical know-how to cover most requests."
