Manufacturing Champions picked up the prize in the Event of the Year (Business Media) category, which featured 11 finalists.
The PPA awards attracted more than 500 entries with winners from Grazia, GQ and NME. Works Management flew the flag for UK manufacturing at the event.
Max Gosney, WM group editor, dedicated the feat to the grassroots factory operators who had backed the Manufacturing Champions Awards ethos of celebrating star site performers.
He said: "Manufacturing Champions was just a pipe dream a year or so ago. But you, the good folk of UK manufacturing, took the idea of promoting our great people to heart.
"We had a treasure trove of examples of factory employees doing some extraordinary things. I don't think there's any danger of the PPA judges believing manufacturing to be all chimney stacks and oily rags ever again."
The PPAs challenged entrants to demonstrate how their event had engaged with core issues affecting their readership.
Manufacturing Champions was launched in 2014 to combat the misconception of manufacturing being a second rate career choice.
The awards showcase the individuals and teams who are adding value to British products through innovation and going the extra mile for a great job.
Manufacturing Champions is the only awards in the sector to celebrate the outstanding achievements of people rather than businesses or factories.
