Lord Mandelson rolls up to Revolvo bearing production plant 20 April 2010
Lord Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills (DBIS), took time off from election campaigning last week to visit bearings manufacturer Revolvo – and praised the firm for its largest single export order, of £1.2million.
That contract is from the major Indian steel producer Jindal Steel and Power, a £6 billion company, with 12 plants in India and two in the US.
Accompanying Lord Mandelson on his visit to Revolvo's Dudley plant was Ian Austin, Minister of State for Regional Affairs (West Midlands).
Revolvo has invested millions of pounds in new machinery and quality systems to make this manufacturing facility world-class.
The ministers were shown Revolvo's split roller bearings, currently being manufactured as part of the order. They also saw how investments in product design, coupled with Revolvo's continuous improvement, were pivotal in securing this and other similar contracts.
Speaking after his tour, Lord Mandelson said: "Revolvo are a great company investing in new machinery, producing world-beating products and winning business for Britain. They are exactly the sort of modern manufacturing company we need to do well for the future of the economy."
