Lochinvar invests in engineering staff training22 April 2010
Members of the technical department and warehouse teams at commercial water heaters and boilers manufacturer Lochinvar have received extra engineering training, with Midland Group Training Services.
Steve McConnell, technical manager at Lochinvar, says it's all about strengthening the skills of its team, and will lead to NVQ Level 2 mechanical manufacturing engineering (production assembly) for seven head-office based employees.
The engineers concerned, he says, now have the level of expertise needed when customers specify ancillary equipment that requires bespoke adjustment in the workshop before delivery. The course also provided his team with knowledge of organisational safety requirements, as well as interpreting engineering documentation.
Now the firm's service technicians have embarked on an NVQ Level 3 in installation and commissioning.
"Lochinvar has a strong tradition of investing in our employees, so it seemed the right step to offer this important training to our technical and warehouse teams. The assessment plan of the NVQ was work-based, so key members of staff now have the most up-to-date knowledge available in their areas of expertise," comments McConnell.
