Kittiwake acquires acoustic emission pioneer Holroyd15 June 2011

Global equipment protection specialist Kittiwake Developments has acquired Holroyd Instruments, which pioneered acoustic emissions techno9logy for plant condition monitoring.

"Holroyd's acoustic emission technology places the power of condition monitoring directly into the hands of every engineer," explains Martin Lucas, managing director of Kittiwake Developments.

"Traditional vibration analysis has provided a trusted approach for the past 30 years, but it is a complex science and requires sophisticated knowledge and understanding. Holroyd's approach offers a viable alternative, extending and simplifying the science, and making it accessible to anyone."

Newly named Kittiwake Holroyd will continue to offer the technology, which provides real time information with early sensitivity to faults by detecting the high frequency components of stress waves.

Users agree it is suitable for continuously running machinery, as well as plant that operates only intermittently or for short durations, and confirm that it allows plant engineers to diagnose problems at an early stage, and carry out maintenance before more serious problems result.
