IET welcomes £1m Queen Elizabeth engineering prize 28 February 2012
The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) welcomes today's (28 February 2012) opening of nominations on the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.
The engineering award, the world's largest at £1million, invites nominations from all over the world, celebrating the greatest engineering feats that benefit humankind.
"An award such as the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering is a very important way of acknowledging and rewarding those who have created real outstanding benefits to humankind," comments Nigel Fine, IET CEO.
"In the UK, the prize will also entice and enthuse a new generation of men and women into the wide variety of engineering roles that provide rewarding careers for many – and which is vital to the robust health of our economy," he adds.
