During the five weeks of modernisation and replacement works of its existing system, the Maastricht, Netherlands based manufacturer maintained production with ICS Cool Energy’s hire solutions.
Vita Talalay mattresses are made with latex. During the manufacturing process, the latex mixture is cooled down by the heat exchangers, which require a combination of glycol and water at a constant temperature of -30 degrees Celsius. This makes the right and reliable cooling system a vital element of the production process. Vita Talalay was planning chiller replacement works and was looking for the right hire solutions to keep its operations running during the time of the modernisation project.
“Shutting down the production because of the cooling system’s modernization works would have been very costly. This is something we wanted to avoid and needed a partner who could provide a temporary system to keep us going,” said Frank Verkoelen, project manager at Vita Talalay.
To provide a temporary alternative for the fixed system, ICS Cool Energy delivered and installed four VLT 60 units with additional dry coolers and total cooling capacity of 360kW. The VLT 60 cold units are capable of delivering temperature at -40 degrees Celsius and come in a 10-foot ISO container. Additionally, a set of strategically-fitted pumps ensured the right pressure and flow of ultra-cold mixture of glycol and water at -30 degrees Celsius.
Verkoelen added: “Our previous hire installation by another company couldn’t deliver the right capacity and efficiency needed by our process. The team at ICS Cool Energy convinced us with their expertise and the ability to deliver a tailored approach to our system. They did the job, and we maintained production. This saved us 120.000 Euros when compared to a five-week production shutdown.”
