Flow tube set to tame installation problems 19 December 2012

A compact pipe flow monitor, described by developer Pulsar as "a leap forward in flow measurement" promises exceptional repeatability, accuracy and simple installation, with no down time.

Pulsar explains that there is no need to break into pipes or to get engineering involved, since the wide-angle ceramic ultrasound sensor simply clamps on to the outside of pipes, using a screwdriver.

Most important, it also uses spread-spectrum analysis – Flow Pulse's RSSA (refracted spread spectrum analysis) – feeding digital signal processing approach, and hence the measurement accuracy and repeatability.

The firm says its new device is aimed at monitoring flow in fluid distribution systems and in process plant or sewage pumping stations, as well as carrying out pump efficiency checks.

Flow Pulse operates in a flow range from 0.3m/s to 4m/s, with a minimum particle size of 100µm and concentration of 200ppm or above.
