Engineering specialist Stopford gets £1m boost 03 January 2014
Process technology, engineering and environment consultancy Stopford Projects has secured a £1million investment to help drive its expansion plans.
The finance was raised from The North West Fund for Energy and Environmental projects, managed by 350 Investment Partners.
The firm, which has bases in Ellesmere Port and at Lancaster University's Environment Centre, says it will use the funds to develop its business in the UK and overseas.
"[The investment] will allow us to further develop our projects in the Middle East and China, as well as supporting our R&D activities across the process, energy and environmental sectors," states Stopford managing director Prith Rajendran (pictured left).
"Our focus remains to accelerate growth and the delivery of best practice across all the sectors we operate in," he adds.
And Michael Bakewell, investment director at 350 IP, comments: "This is a fantastic new investment for us and we are excited to be joining Stopford at such a pivotal time in the growth of the business."
Rajendran says that Stopford's newly-developed Innovation Centre, in Ellesmere Port, will serve as the UK hub for global business, providing training and technology demonstrations.
Over the last 32 years, Stopford has grown a multi-national client base that includes major corporates, such as Shell, BP, Unilever, BASF and Tata, alongside players like BAE Systems, United Utilities, Yorkshire Water and URENCO.
The company works on a range of R&D, process technology, multi-disciplinary engineering and knowledge transfer projects across the process, energy and environment sectors globally.
