Emerson’s AMS suite improves reliability analysis 04 July 2012
Version 5.5 of Emerson Process Management's AMS Machinery Health Manager system, just released, adds to the system's predictive diagnostics, with advances such as shaft animation, interactive reporting, and online collaboration.
The company explains that, through analysis of critical machinery health information, maintenance and operations technicians can identify and resolve machinery issues before equipment damage and process interruptions occur.
AMS Machinery Manager v5.5 provides additional help with diagnostics and root cause analysis, and provides early identification of many issues that are typically difficult to diagnose.
Using the new shaft animation plot tool, for example, engineers can see motion of the shaft around an average shaft position.
During the animation replay, they can view detailed graphs to help identify key orbit characteristics and full machine movement. Engineers can also replay an audio recording of waveforms to hear problems.
Also, through better collaboration, facilities, they can harness pockets of expertise and extend best practices to all areas of the plant.
Interestingly, AMS Machinery Manager has also expanded its thermal image analysis support to include Flir infrared cameras.
