Emerson upgrades online turbine monitoring for Hungarian nuclear plant05 August 2011
Paksi Atomeromu (PAKS), the only operating nuclear station in Hungary, has selected Emerson's CSI 6500 machinery health monitor for real-time predictive monitoring on its eight turbine-generators.
"Emerson's industry expertise and online machinery monitoring technology made them the ideal choice for this renovation project," explains Ferenc Kiszli, head of instrumentation and control.
"With the CSI 6500, we will have improved insight into the condition of each turbine-generator and can effectively plan our maintenance activities, while knowing our equipment is protected in the event of a failure," he adds.
CSI 6500 complies with API 670 (American Petroleum Institute) protection for turbomachinery. Each of the 32 monitors will be integrated with the PAKS plant's distributed control system so that operations and maintenance teams see real-time machinery health responses to process adjustments.
