Emerson offers online tool for WirelessHART network planning 28 June 2012

Emerson Process Management is offering a free online planning tool to help plant engineers get started with wireless sensing on process plants.

This free, web-based application, available at www.Emersonprocess.com/wirelessplanning, allows users to upload an image of their plant in order to design a customised wireless network, using IEC-approved WirelessHART network standards.

Emerson explains that the objective is to enable plant engineers to test out plant network configurations and application possibilities for their sites before investing money in wireless technology.

The firm also says that users can use the tool to set specific limitations, parameters, and standards for their network, and then verify their configuration against industry best practices and gain recommendations for increasing the robustness of their network design.

Best practices recommendations reflect the IEC 62591 WirelessHART System Engineering Guide from the HART Communication Foundation.
