Electric motors must meet IE3 on 1 January, 2015 30 June 2014
On January 1, 2015, efficiency requirements on electric motors in the European Union will become stricter, in line with Regulation (EC) 640/2009 implementing Ecodesign Directive 2005/32/EC.
So Nord Drivesystems is reminding plant and factory managers and engineers that, at the end of this year, motors between 7.5 and 375kW designed for continuous operation with a constant load must comply at least with the IE3 energy efficiency standard.
Alternatively, IE2 motors can be equipped with a variable speed drive.
In order to ease the changeover for machine and plant manufacturers, the dimensions of Nord's IE3 motors will remain largely identical to those of IE2 models, allowing for retrofitting without modifications to machines and plants.
