Coronavirus: Mott MacDonald supports delivery of NHS Nightingale Hospital in London08 April 2020
Engineering, management and development consultancy Mott MacDonald has been supporting NHS England and NHS Improvement to deliver the NHS Nightingale Hospital in London, UK, by providing technical, engineering and project management services with its project partner Archus.
Mike Haigh, executive chair at Mott MacDonald, says: “We are working with our clients and partners to do all we can to support one another as we respond to the ongoing Covid-19 situation. Our colleagues have been going above and beyond, to ensure we provide essential resources and expertise at this critical time.”
The NHS Nightingale Hospital in London is Britain’s first coronavirus field hospital and will treat thousands of people affected by Covid-19 in the 4,000-bed facility. It has been constructed within the ExCel arena in the capital’s Docklands area in the space of two weeks.
Archus and Mott MacDonald have been working with NHS England, NHS Improvement and the various other supply chain partners to deliver the NHS Nightingale Hospital. This has focused around the non-clinical areas and supporting infrastructure, including non-clinical flows, access, emergency vehicle movements, accommodation and other external and surrounding infrastructure.
As part of the work, Mott MacDonald has also been working with Transport for London (TfL) to deliver mission critical transport for NHS staff and contractors.
Haigh continues: “Our teams are responding swiftly to help deliver temporary facilities across the UK. It is crucial we continue to manage emerging pressures and meet the demand for other mission critical facilities and infrastructure. It's inspiring to see our colleagues, and all of those we’re working with, get involved at this challenging time.”
