British Airways specifies new Genies from Working at Height 15 October 2013
British Airways has placed an order with Working At Height for 35 access platforms to ensure safety and compliance with the Work At Height regulations at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
The deal follows a competitive tender and 12 months of collaboration between the carrier and the Surrey-based access platform specialist.
This work included trials at both Heathrow and Gatwick, which atified British Airways that Working At Height's Genie models were ideal for low level access to its aircraft fleet.
Although British Airways has been using Genie access platforms for many years, Working At Height was tasked with introducing the latest models.
The compact Genie GR-15 Runabout now provides quick access into the wheel bay of a Boeing 747 and the larger aircraft in the fleet, as well as access to the underside of wings, including leading and trailing edges of all aircraft types, and also all aircraft surfaces up to 6.47m.
Meanwhile, the GR-26J was chosen for its versatility and the ability to lift two people to a reach height of 9.90m for accessing wing, fuselage and stabilisers on most aircraft types.
