Boost your power plant efficiency: new guides 10 March 2014

New guidance notes from ABB, published to coincide with the launch of ABB's Navigator analyser range, explain how to optimise boiler chemistry and steam quality in power generation applications.

The guides explain how to control some of the main parameters that affect steam generation efficiency.

Each focuses on a particular parameter. Optimising power plant performance through silica monitoring explains how this can help prevent corrosion and scale. If left uncontrolled, it points out, accumulated silica can reduce performance of plant, including the boiler and downstream steam turbine.

The other three guides focus on parameters covered by ABB's new Navigator 500 range, which includes versions for monitoring dissolved oxygen, hydrazine and sodium.

Improving dissolved oxygen control through online monitoring, for example, describes how continuous monitoring can help to reduce the risk of corrosion caused by excess oxygen concentrations in boiler water.
