Bauer reveals results of IE4 motor efficiency test 02 November 2012

Bauer Gear Motor is offering plant engineers a free place at the 'Future-Oriented Drive System Engineering' technical symposiums, being held on 20th and 22nd November in Augsburg and Dusseldorf, Germany.

Aimed at design and maintenance engineers involved in power transmission, the programme is set to include what the organisers call "the shocking ... results of one of the first real world, independent field comparison efficiency tests between an IE4 permanent magnet synchronous motor and a standard asynchronous motor".

Keynote speaker is Prof Dr.-Ing Hans-Peter Grünberger, from the University of Applied Sciences, Esslingen, supported by Yasar Yüce, product manager and head of the Bauer Gear Motor Academy, and Markus Kutny, technical sales and applications at Bauer Gear Motor.

Bauer Gear Motor, part of Altra Industrial Motion, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of gear motor solutions.

The firm makes the point that approximately 70% of the electrical energy used in industrial applications is consumed by electric motors. Hence the new regulations brought in to categorise and control motor efficiency.

The new directives, it says, mean that future oriented drive systems will play an important role in industry over the coming years.

The symposium will discuss current and near future technology, then compare the energy balance of induction motors and cutting edge permanent magnet motor operating with frequency inverters and with gearboxes.

The first Future Technology Symposium venue is the 20 November 2012, in Augsburg. It will be repeated on 22 November in Dusseldorf.
