ATEX certification clears hearing instruments for hazardous areas 02 July 2012
Five of Siemens Hearing Instruments' products have been cleared for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, including mines, factories, agricultural silos, rigs, oil and gas platforms, water and chemical processing environments.
According to Wendy Davies, national sales and audiology manager at Siemens Hearing Instruments, the products will benefit people with hearing loss that work with flammable gases, mists, vapours or combustible dusts.
ATEX certified instruments include behind-the-ear (BTE) devices and a discreet receiver-in-canal (RIC) range.
The only waterproof digital hearing instrument in the world, Aquaris, is also now certified for use in explosive environments. In addition to being waterproof it is also dust and shock-proof, making it an ideal solution for those who require a robust hearing instrument that does not compromise on sound quality.
"One in six people suffer hearing loss so we're delighted to offer a wide range of solutions to match the lifestyle and occupations of people working in industrial and potentially explosive environments," states Davies.
"This certification will provide extra confidence and comfort for a huge sector of the workforce," she adds.
The list of Siemens ATEX certified products includes: Motion XCEL SX & P (BTE); Pure Carat XCEL (RIC); Aquaris (BTE); Nitro (BTE) and Life (BTE).
