ABB wins Nexen North Sea ICSS service contract 26 February 2014
ABB UK has signed a service contract with oil and gas operator CNOOC Nexen for the ICSS (integrated control and safety system) on-board its Buzzard platform in the North Sea – the largest oil producing asset in the UK Continental Shelf.
The contract includes advanced services, such as ServicePort (system and process optimisation) and ServicePro (asset management).
Apart from 24/7 support and a for all technical enquiries, the contract also includes spare parts management and training for third party systems.
ABB's oil and gas service manager for the UK and Caspian, Troy Stewart, explains that ABB to host a full scale replica of Nexen's offshore control network in the staging area of its Aberdeen office.
This will allow ABB to perform configuration management and testing of all software changes prior to installation on site, as well as helping to prepare for planned offshore visits to facilitate technical troubleshooting and maintenance.
