ABB launches PLC system integration network 14 February 2012

ABB has unveiled a network of integrators for PLC (programmable logic controllers), aimed at giving OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) easier access to programming expertise.

Initially, four PLC integrators have signed a partnership agreement with ABB: Bryant Electrical of Rochester, Kent; Elite Control Systems, Livingston; Control House of Elland, West Yorkshire; and Tycon of Wrexham, North Wales.

"We chose our PLC integrators for their experience of programming PLCs and integrating them as part of a wider control solution" states Gary Busby, ABB sales manager for small drives and PLCs.

"They can program the PLCs to form part of a solution based on ABB's range of drives, HMIs and other control and automation products," he continues. "Alternatively, they can be programmed to a specification to match other vendors' products."

Busby says that, by using ABB PLC integrators, OEMs can rest assured that they are getting properly engineered systems.

All partners carry a large local inventory of ABB PLCs, supported by central stock in Germany.

"ABB has ambitious plans to grow its PLC business beyond anything we have done in the past, and we will be looking to expand the PLC partner network to support this. There is certainly room for the network to be doubled."
