ABB launches life-extending drives registration service 28 April 2014
ABB is offering a free low-voltage ac drives registration service for users, service repair organisations, machine builders, OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), panel builders and system integrators.
The drives manufacturers says that registrants will receive timely recommendations about maintenance and upgrade services aimed at extending the service life of their installations.
However, as an incentive, ABB is offering six-month extended warranties, comprising drive repair or replacement with labour covered for selected drive types.
To register a drive, go to the App Store or Google Play and get the app by searching on 'ABB Drive Services'. Alternatively, you can register online at www.abb.com/drivereg.
You will need your drive's serial number and location, along with your contact details, application and industry.
Stuart Melling, ABB service manager for drives and controls, says that the app also includes a 'check my drive' function, which allows engineers and technicians to track the next major preventive maintenance.
"Registration gives an opportunity to create a dedicated record that shows a story of the drive's performance throughout its lifetime," states Melling.
"It provides each drive with a passport that describes its application, parameter settings, maintenance records and upgrades," he continues.
"[That] leads to a highly reliable drive that is performing at optimum throughout its life cycle, thereby ensuring the best in productivity."
