Saudi chiller trial leads to digitalisation contract14 August 2020

Saudi Tabreed Operations & Maintenance Company, a district cooling scheme operator in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that owns and operates 83 plants across Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, has signed a digitalisation contract with Babcock Borsig Service Arabia.

The contract win follows a pilot project at a Riyadh, Saudi Arabia plant begun last year to evaluate the energy optimization possibilities of using the Bilfinger Connected Asset Performance platform. With support from Bilfinger Digital Next, data from areas of engineering, operation, and maintenance of a plant is connected, processed, analyzed, and visualized on a cloud-based platform.

Saudi Tabreed has chosen a model where one module with two chillers will be connected and operated with BCAP recommendations and a second module with two chillers will be connected, operated in a “normal way” to compare it to the first module and gain insights into BCAP optimization potential.

“Driving Operational Excellence through digitalisation requires a deep understanding of the processed data and the potential of these insights. By analyzing the data in BCAP, we are able to gain more insights and to create a real business case,” stated Franz Braun, managing director of Bilfinger Digital Next and chief digital officer at Bilfinger.

“Once the proof of concept is delivered it will enable Saudi Tabreed to expand the program for their facilities and demonstrate the potential savings Bilfinger can deliver across many sectors for other clients in the near future,” stated Adrian Duffy, managing director, Bilfinger KSA and Bahrain.
