PneuTech, a company specialising in compressed air solutions, has claimed that its on-site N2 Generators cut costs, enhance purity control and ensure reliable supply.

PneuTech customises systems to meet customer needs, providing solutions delivering purity and precise control, as well as cost-effective, low-maintenance alternatives.

According to PneuTech, switching to on-site nitrogen generation results in cost savings by eliminating the need for continuous supply contracts and transportation fees. In North America, the operating costs for generating nitrogen on-site, including energy and maintenance, typically range from $0.06 – 0.10 per 100 cubic feet for low purity (97%) to $0.26 – 0.45 per 100 cubic feet for ultra-high purity (99.999%). These costs are just a small fraction of what it would take to purchase nitrogen in cylinders, liquid dewars, or in bulk.

On-site nitrogen generation is said to ensure a reliable, uninterrupted supply, which is critical for maintaining operational continuity and limited downtime. This method provides complete control over production, enhancing supply-chain resilience and avoiding disruptions like those experienced during the pandemic. Consistent nitrogen purity is maintained, allowing operations to meet specific requirements without dependence on external suppliers.

Additionally, on-site generation enhances inventory management efficiency and safety. Customisable production meets specific needs, preventing over- or under-supply issues. It saves space by eliminating bulky storage requirements and improves safety by reducing risks associated with the handling and storage of high-pressure cylinders or volatile liquid dewars. On-site generation also promotes sustainability by reducing the transportation and packaging of delivered nitrogen.

PneuTech provides two types of on-site nitrogen generators designed to cater to the diverse needs of various applications. For industries requiring precise control of N2 purity levels and high flow rates, the PneuTech pressure swing adsorption generators use a specialised adsorption process to separate nitrogen from other gases in the compressed air, delivering high-purity nitrogen efficiently.

PneuTech also offers membrane gas generators, a simple, cost-effective, and low-maintenance solution that utilises a selective permeation process to produce nitrogen. They are well-suited for industries requiring moderate N2 gas purity levels.
