Forklift attachment cuts cost for Scottish cash & carry warehouse28 October 2010
Sterlinghshire-based M9 Cash & Carry says it has resolved the problem of stock losses due to damage caused by forklift trucks.
Omar Hanif, M9 Cash & Carry's general manager, says that fitting Jayline Products' load protection pads to the carriages of its counterbalance and reach trucks has done the trick.
Made from heavy duty moulded rubber, the protectors fit to the rear face of a forklift truck's forks and provide a cushioned barrier between the load and the forks. As a pallet is picked up, the protector prevents the load from hitting the forks or the fork carriage with sufficient force to cause damage to the load.
"Damage to stock caused by the forklifts has dropped significantly since the introduction of the load protectors. These days, what stock damage we do suffer is largely caused by negligence and not the forklifts themselves," confirms Hanif.
He also says that the load protectors were quickly fitted, using a simple yet robust strapping system and their slim profile means that the fork trucks' load handling capacity has not been compromised.
