Lochinvar boiler upgrades Telford & Wrekin Council08 November 2010
Telford & Wrekin Council in Shropshire has taken delivery of fourhigh efficiency gas-fired boilers, from Lochinvar, for its headquarters building.
The CP-M180 condensing boilers were installed at Darby House to replace the original cast iron boilers, which were more than 30 years old, as part of an overall refurbishment project.
John Withington, property and design mechanical engineer for Telford & Wrekin Council, says the boilers are providing space heating across the 8,000 sq metre offices, and were chosen for their efficiency and low NOx emissions.
"Our heating system was definitely in need of an upgrade and we selected Lochinvar's CP-M because of its reliability, high efficiency, ability to modulate and the low NOx emissions, due to the pre-mixed burner design," says Withington.
He also says the boilers were very cost effective, and adds: "We've installed the CP-M before in other council properties, so have previous experience of its performance. In addition, we were able to have the boilers installed, along with new flue liners, into the existing pre-cast concrete, while the building was fully occupied."
