Food processor goes for Venturi steam trap solution 20 January 2011

Thermal Energy International says it has received purchase orders totally £375,000 from an unnamed major food manufacturer, based in the UK.

The deal involves GEM condensate return systems for use at five production plants, with TEI's steam traps shipping in the next three months.

Thermal Energy president and CEO William Crossland says that the equipment will be used to cut energy and carbon emissions across one of the company's main divisions, which manufactures chilled and frozen products, as well as savoury, cakes and baked products.

The orders followed three months of metered steam trials at one of that division's 12 food producing sites.

"We worked closely with this [company] to confirm the energy saving capabilities of the GEM technology, thereby allowing the customer to confidently install the system at a number of sites simultaneously," comments Crossland.
