Copa-Data seminar to explain IEC 61850 for plant and electrical engineers 08 October 2014
Industrial automation specialist Copa-Data is staging a one-day workshop on the electrical substation automation standard IEC 61850, on 30 October 2014 at Hampton Manor, Solihull.
Martyn Williams, managing director of Copa-Data UK, says the workshop is aimed at plant and control engineers in the energy industry wanting in-depth information on the standard and its application.
He also days that delegates will gain technical insight on topics ranging from Ethernet networking to real-time data exchange and network architectures, as well as substation automation.
The workshop is a follow-up event of Copa-Data UK's energy experience day, which took place in May 2014, and will see international expert Dr Pascal Schaub running the master class.
"Many people working in the energy sector are still puzzled by the opportunities the international standard IEC 61850 offers," comments Williams.
"The truth is electrical power systems could be revolutionised by the implementation of standardised methods of communication between devices," he continues.
"IEC 61850 enables businesses to design and implement hefty improvements when it comes to safety, reliability and cost."
Copa-Data UK's industry manager for energy, Jürgen Resch, will assist Dr Schaub with open forum at the end of the day.
Resch has several years of experience in power plant automation and rail.
