Brammer toasts contract success with Diageo23 November 2010
Brewing and distilling giant Diageo has signed a contract with Brammer for MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) products and services.
The deal covers 37 facilities in Scotland, four in Northern Ireland, and the packaging, canning and bottling plant at Runcorn in Cheshire.
Tony McCartney, supplier performance manager at Diageo, says Brammer won the contract based on its ability to offer a partnership approach, with value well beyond simply saving costs on components.
He also says the deal has already enabled Diageo to substantially reduce its supplier base in many MRO product categories, such as bearings, and helped reduce purchasing administration costs.
McCartney explains that Diageo had recently embarked on an internal asset management improvement system (AMIS), and views the sourcing and management of MRO spares as integral to the success of its initiative.
"Brammer's response in the opening months of this venture has been fantastic. The level of co-ordination, energy and focus required to deliver to a very complex array of sites, processes and stakeholders has been exceptional, and Diageo applauds the Brammer team," comments McCartney.
