Hannover Messe takes place from 31 March to 4 April and more than 5,000 companies from around the globe will exhibit from across the industrial landscape

Hannover Messe, the German industrial show, will take place from 31 March to 4 April, focusing on investment in digitalization, automation and electrification with key topics sustainability and artificial intelligence (AI) playing central roles.

Under the motto ‘Industrial Transformation – Energising a Sustainable Industry’, the event will showcase offerings from around 5,000 companies in the mechanical engineering, electrical and digital industries, as well as the energy sector.

“We are at a historic crossroads,” says Dr. Jochen Köckler, chairman of the managing board of Deutsche Messe. “The current global environment is shaping what the industrial power structures will look like in the future.” Köckler adds: “More investment is urgently needed in the digitalization, automation and electrification of industry. Only in this way can competitiveness and sustainability be brought into alignment.”

The main exhibition areas are Smart Manufacturing, Digital Ecosystems, Energy for Industry, Compressed Air & Vacuum Technology, Engineered Parts & Solutions, Future Hub and International Trade & Investment.

The Smart Manufacturing area is focused on intelligent and sustainable production and features the topics of automation and sensor technology, robotics, and logistics automation, as well as drive and fluid technology. There will also be the Application Park featuring AI-enabled robots.

In seven halls of the Smart Manufacturing, companies will showcase how state-of-the-art technologies, components, integrated Industry 4.0 solutions, and artificial intelligence help make production processes even more effective and sustainable.

Exhibitors include from international corporations to SMEs and start-ups such as Aignep, Beckhoff, Bosch Rexroth, Cantoni, Delta Electronics, Emerson, Festo, Flender, Harting, HAWE, ifm electronic, I.M.M. Hydraulics, Lapp, Pepperl+Fuchs, Pilz, Phoenix Contact, Rittal, and Turck.

Below are some selected exhibitor profiles:

Schneider Electric will illustrate how it is driving industrial competitiveness, sustainability and resilience by connecting industrial ecosystems through open, software-defined automation, digitalization and electrification. Visitors will be immersed in a digitally connected food and beverage ecosystem and its connected value chains, with domain experts guiding them from sustainably produced feed to automated production and control, all the way to sustainable packaging. On show will be its next-generation automation and motion solutions with EcoStruxure Automation Expert, energy management solutions and how it is integrating AI into its’ solutions through strategic collaborations with partners, universities, and customers.

Siemens will showcase how its technologies are transforming the everyday and helping customers accelerate their digital transformation by seamlessly combining the real and digital worlds. Innovative use cases include agent-driven AI-supported production for enhanced adaptability, software-defined automation for reliable operations, autonomous systems to enable the circular economy, autonomous inspection with mobile robots, and the industrial metaverse.

SEW-EURODRIVE will exhibit the powerful and sustainable drive solutions that it develops. The company’s flexible modular system enables tailor-made solutions for a wide range of applications. One example is the DriveRadar IoT Suite, which monitors industrial gear units in real-time. This intelligent software detects deviations early on and enables predictive maintenance to avoid downtimes, extend the service life of machines and reduce energy consumption.

Rotronic, a Process Sensing Technologies Group company, has launched a new version of its proven HygroCal humidity validation device and will detail more at Hannover Messe. These include the lightweight and portable HygroCal100 Advanced, a new version of the proven HygroCal humidity validation device, enabling technical and quality control teams in the field to quickly and easily evaluate the performance of up to seven relative humidity (RH) probes simultaneously.

Drive specialist Schaeffler will highlight its latest innovations. Among them are its new bearings with an optimised coating for improved protection against current passage. The external dimensions of these bearings correspond to the dimensions according to DIN 616, so they have the same dimensions and tolerances as standard bearings and are fully interchangeable. Schaeffler’s improved current-insulating bearings of the J20G series for this purpose. The new J20G series bearings have an optimised Insutect A coating. This makes it even easier to avoid the risk of current passage.

Swiss drive specialist Maxon launched in the autumn a series of innovative new products and further developments that it will highlight, including a versatile drive with a diameter of just 16 millimetres. Equipped with ironless windings and four-pole rotor designs, the brushless PRIME motors feature high speed stability. The 53-millimeter-long ECX PRIME 16 L adopts these characteristics, as well as the high torques of up to 25 millinewton meters and the high speeds of up to 40,000 revolutions per minute.

Linear guidance system company THK – is expanding its already broad range of linear axes to include the compact KSF series and the cleanroom-compatible CKSF series and will showcase these developments. Products include linear guides, actuators, ball screws, ball joints and cross-roller rings, are used as essential mechanical components in almost every industry. THK products are said to have enormous potential in the development of applications for factory and process automation.

INFORM is exhibiting how its advanced optimisation software systems and helps to optimise production planning in manufacturing companies. The company believes in times of digitalization, no manufacturing company can afford or wants uncertainties in production planning. At Hannover Messe it will present the integrated solution FELIOS that it says will establish machine and systems engineering as the global benchmark for a high-performance, high-quality industry.

Freen OÜ, an Estonian company specialising in metal processing, production, and renewable energy solutions – including its innovative small vertical axis wind turbines, which will be featured at the joint stand organised by Enterprise Estonia (EIS). Freen will highlight how its vertical wind turbines can help with energy transition, reduce energy costs, and support ESG goals.

Critical Manufacturing will be exhibiting its flexible and configurable manufacturing execution system (MES) that includes advanced analytics through its IoT Data Platform, enhanced support for complex products, and automation capabilities.

BOX: SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRIES

At each edition of Hannover Messe there is a Partner Country and this year, it is the turn of Canada with the focus on creating sustainable, environmentally-friendly industries and under the theme ‘The future’s here’.

Canada will highlight its industrial strength in areas such as automation, energy, digital transformation, and green technology. More than 200 companies will showcase the nation’s talent, innovation and commitment to sustainable solutions.

The main Canada Pavilion will highlight Canada’s national science and innovation ecosystems. Additional pavilions concentrate on topics such as artificial intelligence, automation, clean technologies, hydrogen, e-mobility, and robotics.

Among exhibitors on the pavilion are ASAsoft, a developer of cutting-edge power transmission and distribution solutions designed to complement existing electrical infrastructure for utilities, railways and urban transit. The exhibits will include the ASAInsuTrack707+, a fully automatic tracking wheel and uses a revolutionary, efficient design, used to test various types of distribution insulators (15 to 35 kilovolts), including dead-end insulators, as well as station and transmission line poles. It is for product validation, accelerated life testing and isolator performance verification.
