Howard has more than three decades of experience in the motion control and robotics industries.
This appointment follows Alva’s recent launch of SlimTorq, a new range of slotless thin-section motors ideal for high-precision and thrust applications on land, sea, air and space. SlimTorq motors are manufactured by the company’s FiberPrinting technology, which is said to enable ironless and slotless motor windings with up to 60% copper fill factor.
“In recent years, there have been many incremental improvements in electric motors but I cannot recall an innovation that offers such a step change as Alva's FiberPrinting technology,” said Howard. “I was so impressed by the technology's ability to boost torque & performance while keeping such a thin and light footprint, that I was pleased to accept Alva's invitation to join.”
“We are delighted to welcome Mark to our board as Alva moves to its next stage of growth,” said Jørgen Selnes, CEO & co-founder of Alva. “Mark brings significant experience and know-how about key markets and technologies, and we look forward to working together to drive the future success of Alva.”
