New robotics venture for production engineering firm27 January 2021

Specialist engineering services group Belgrave & Powell has launched a new robotics and automation operation within its Machine Technology Group division.

Called Addison Robotics & Automation, the new organisation will focus on the growing trend for automation and robotics to improve productivity and manufacturing efficiency in the UK and overseas.

The Machine Technology Group comprises machine design and build, robotic demonstration and applications areas as well as panel build, a full equipped tool room and machine shop combined with skilled engineers from electrical, mechanical and tooling disciplines.

Paul Ward, managing director of the Machine Technology Group commented: “The investment in the provision of robotic and automation services alongside our conventional machine tool and tube bending business is a complementary field of expertise we are ideally placed to offer existing and new customers in aerospace, automotive and general manufacturing industries.”

The investment will focus on the development of MTG’s Preston site, 22,000ft2, featuring CNC machines for tooling manufacturing as well as machine build, commissioning and testing.

Belgrove & Powell acquired MTG, then known as Machine & Tooling Group, in November 2018 from Hughes Armstrong Industries. At the time, the group included Dean Smith & Grace, an historic and globally renown UK based manufacturer of manual and CNC lathes, GAC Rail, a specialised rail machine tool service provider and Maydown International, a Midlands-based tooling solutions provider.
