Airend redesigned in latest Compair L-Series compressor range02 February 2021

CompAir has launched its latest L-Series oil-lubricated, air-cooled compressors from 55 to 75 kW available in both fixed and regulated speeds.

When compared with previous models, the new compressors offer up 8% efficiency improvements, as well as up to 5% higher flow rate, says CompAir.

The range incorporates many of the market-leading features that the previous models: automatic motor lubrication system as standard and Victaulic fittings, Delcos XL touchscreen controller and iConn real-time monitoring service.

New features include a newly-designed, semi-integrated airend. This features a new rotor profile said to offer good performance while reducing noise and vibration levels. It has been designed with a larger-sized inlet and outlet to help increase air flow and limit pressure drop. It is manufactured in-house in Simmern, Germany.

For variable-speed models, the new airend comes with an automatic oil regulation valve, which controls the oil’s discharge temperature according to environmental conditions. This is said to remove the risk of condensate and – as a result – corrosion, but it said to offer an efficiency boost of up to 5%.

Options include integrated heat recovery, alternative operating voltages, an integrated water separator and a base load selector.

Service parts, such as separators and filters, have been optimised to simplify maintenance. For instance, the systems’ new separator design not only provides an oil reservoir that helps reduce pressure drop but includes a hinged top plate and only one integrated seal, too. As a result, O-rings do not need to be removed and then fitted again during maintenance work.

The new models also have a smaller footprint than previous ones.

Am IE3 electric motor comes as standard with these systems, with the option of upgrading to an energy-saving IE4 electric motor if required. The units are capable of delivering pressure ranges from 5 to 13 bar, and volume flow between 2.1 to 14.03 m3/min.

Dora Artemiadi, product manager at CompAir, said: “The new models can help deliver significant cost savings. Our research has shown that a 75 kW regulated speed system running at 7.5 bar, for instance, can help save more than €5,000 a year when compared with our older models, and more than €6,500 a year when compared with some competitor models.”
